In addition to being etched into the very stone of the historic quarter, an important part of Frigiliana’s history is depicted in a series of twelve ceramic wall panels. The panels were installed in the 1960s as part of the restoration and remodelling of the Barribarto, and may still be seen today.
With a great regard for historical accuracy, the panels tell the story of the months leading up to the Battle of the Peñon which took place on 11th June, 1569.
The texts accompanying the photographs of the panels are taken from the book “Vida y diáspora morisca en la Axarquía Veleña” written by Don Antonio Navas Acosta, and published in 1995.
