Until 1967, the annual fair, known at the time as La Función (The Function) was celebrated on January 20th and surrounding days. In view of the fact that the weather at that time of year often spoiled the proceedings, the town council took the decision, in November 1966, that in future La Función should be linked to the town’s other patron saint, San Antonio de Padua, whose feast falls on June 13th.
Since that time the celebrations on January 20th have been confined to a mass in honour of San Sebastián, followed by a procession bearing the statue of San Sebastián through the village, during which the inhabitants, especially those bearing the name Sebastián, set off spectacular fireworks along the processional route.
